A Day in the Life of a Safety Coordinator includes:


Reporting to the Director of Safety and Environmental Affairs, the Safety Coordinator is specifically responsible and accountable on 2nd Shift to overseeing management and delivery of a broad range of safety functions on 2nd Shift in an industrial multi-shift, 800,000 + square foot facility.  This individual will provide professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of all safety programs on 2nd Shift, and will ensure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines.

Job Requirements

Skills and Experience to be Successful:



•       Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing health and safety.



•       Assessing risk potential across the organization and ensuring proper signage, guarding, protection measures and training are in place.



•       Maintain and assist in the development of the sites SDS program.



•       Support protocols, overseeing, and conducting accident investigations, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.



•       Managing and tracking all safety violations on 2nd Shift, and assists with maintaining necessary records (OSHA etc.).



•       Participating in and/or directing the work of Safety Committees on 2nd Shift (including Walks, UCRs etc.)



•       Assisting with the development of safety and compliance training for all levels of employees and ensuring delivery of same to keep the facility in compliance.



•       Assist with industrial hygiene testing, occupational and general safety programs to ensure a safe environment which complies with safety standards.



•       Working with others to evaluate new safety equipment and management of necessary PPE.



•       Responding and providing assistance to all emergency situations.



•       Keeping up-to-date on new safety methods and procedures to applicable codes and regulations and maintain the required level of certification.


Education and Experience:



•       A four-year degree is preferred in a related field such as Environmental Science, or Occupational Health & Safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



•       1-2 years of experience (including internships with some portion of the meat industry preferred).

Compensation  


Annual starting salary is $50,000 to $55,000.
